Release of Avast 18.2.2328

It’s not even 3 weeks from the last release of version 18.1 and yesterday Avast came up with new release – version 18.2. There is a little bit of something new, but in general it’s about bug fixes. Read full list of announced changes and fixes below.

What’s new

  • Threat detection will now appear in Notification Center when the Silent Mode is on
  • Returned option to add Compatibility scan to the Smart Scan via Settings
  • Fixed automatic shutdown after scheduled scans
  • Fixed right-click scan in Windows Explorer
  • Fixed missing text in right-click context menu on the Recycle Bin
  • Fixed couple bugs from Rescue-disk creation process
  • Fixed tray icon animation

Read carefully – Unfortunately it seems there is a one new bug affecting users with operating system Windows 7, where Internet Explorer can’t be run after the installation. No other operating system or browser is affected. Avast quickly stopped pushing this new update within its products, but it can still be installed manually. So if you are using mentioned combination of operating system and browser we strictly recommend you to wait with the update for fixed version. Meanwhile first investigation showed problem in Behavior Shield, so if you already updated your antivirus product just disable this shield and your IE should be functional again.
Update (March 3) – Avast specified the problem was on Windows 7 64-bit version only and they already published fix for this bug. You just need to download new virus definitions if it was not updated automatically yet.

How to install

You can always update your existing installation of Avast product through the user interface. You’ll find the update option in Settings > Update > Update program. Or you can download the installation file from Avast directly, just choose the product you have installed:

What’s coming

We expect to see new version fixing the Internet Explorer problem within couple hours, maybe few days. Otherwise there are not further hints about next update, so stay tuned and we’ll bring more news as soon as we’ll get some information. See complete Avast antivirus portfolio
